Binh Dien Market is one of three wholesale markets specializing in agricultural products in Ho Chi Minh City with about 20,000 people doing business at the market every night. It is expected that about 1,000 people will be sampled for nCoV.
From 8:00 am to 24:00 pm on September 14, the Medical Center of District 8, Ho Chi Minh City took samples to test 450 people at Binh Dien market.
On the night of September 15, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoang, an officer of the Binh Dien Market Management Board, said that in order to strengthen the prevention of Covid-19 epidemic, starting on the night of September 14, the District 8 Medical Center cooperated with Market managers take nCoV samples to test for traders, traders, drivers ... at the market.
When taking the sample, each person only needs to fill in personal information, after that, the medical staff stick the barcode on the form, the sampling tube, and finally the throat swab. The steps are simple and convenient, so despite the number of people who need to sample for CoV, it can be done quickly.
Doing loading and unloading at the market, often having to contact many people, Mr. Doan Cong Doanh (45 years old, living in Binh Chanh) feels excited and reassured when being tested.
“I am also self-conscious to fight the Covid-19 epidemic together. Before going into the market, everyone here and I wash their hands and wear masks. Having to work in an environment with many people but when it is too crowded, everyone and I relax a little, ”said Mr. Doanh.
The sampling is done quickly to limit the impact on the small business's business
Binh Dien Market is one of the three major wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City. This is considered the "stomach" of the city with the number of transactions from many provinces and cities, so there is a high risk of infection.
According to Mr. Hoang, the sampling to monitor Covid-19 is very necessary. Traders, loading and unloading drivers, drivers ... who are at high risk of infection should be given priority to take samples during this batch. Proactive monitoring and prevention will make it easier to trace and detect cases if there is no infection.
Master Nguyen Minh Tan, Head of Department of Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging, District 8 Medical Center, said that the sampling will be done for 3 nights starting from September 14 to September 16. On the night of September 14, 450 people were sampled to test for nCoV, of which 200 were loading and unloading and 250 merchants.
"Although the time of sampling is a busy business, people are excited and responsive. We also try to do it quickly and conveniently so as not to affect people's business," said Mr. Tan. good.

Previously, the Center for Disease Control (HCDC) in Ho Chi Minh City cooperated with the Management Board of Hoc Mon and Thu Duc agricultural markets to organize the sampling for many transactions at the markets.
In which, Thu Duc market took 750 samples, Hoc Mon market took 500 samples. The wholesale markets are crowded with people, many come from provinces and the risk of Covid-19 infection is high, so HCDC actively took samples for surveillance.
